Hearts Rising

Good Morning! I (David) just spent the early morning hours with a large group of men who weekly open their hearts around sexual sin brokenness and the purposes God has for their lives. What courageous men! Thank you guys for your attentive hearts so early this morning.

Things have been going well for Rebecca and I. We are continuing to see how God is opening up men and women's hearts to dialogue about their wounds, sin and broken places. Please pray for continued direction for this ministry. We appreciate your prayers and encouragement.

How is your heart today? Let us know how you are doing and how we might pray for you.

Blessings,

David and Rebecca

A Healing Rain

As the rain fell on a wintry weekend in Central California, deep secrets began to surface in men's hearts. We just returned from another great weekend of healing through the Every Man's Battle conference. The men who attended were so courageous - not knowing what to expect when they arrived on Friday, they opened up and began to share secrets and struggles with sexual sin and sexual acting out as well as the wounds and lies that for years had bound them to secrecy. God moved in mighty ways in their hearts. Wounds surfaced around past broken relationships, sexual wounding as children and wounds of deep insecurity in who they truly are as men. Actually, for this conference, insecurity seemed to be the most prominent wound that led many of the men to live in an isolated fear for many years. That fear kept many of these men wearing a protected, controlled mask to keep from letting others see there vulnerability. Well, the masks have began to come off! To the men who attended the conference this weekend - you are so brave and loved! Stay strong in weakness as you battle for your heart. Remember Jeff's encouragement to you from Isaiah 35:

Energize the limp hands,
strengthen the rubbery knees.
Tell fearful souls,
"Courage! Take heart!
God is here, right here,
on his way to put things right
And redress all wrongs.
He's on his way! He'll save you!"
Blind eyes will be opened,
deaf ears unstopped,
Lame men and women will leap like deer,
the voiceless break into song.
Springs of water will burst out in the wilderness,
streams flow in the desert.
Hot sands will become a cool oasis,
thirsty ground a splashing fountain.
Even lowly jackals will have water to drink,
and barren grasslands flourish richly. (MSG)

How is your Journey going today? What areas of your heart do you feel the Lord healing and strengthening?
Take Care,
David

Looking Toward Healing

Good Morning! Just got off the phone with Jeff McVay, our worship leader for the Every Man's Battle conferences. He and I were touching base about the upcoming weekend conference we will be leading in Fresno, CA starting on Friday for men sexually broken around sexual impurity and addiction. I wanted to ask you all to keep the men who are about to attend this conference in your thoughts and prayers over the next several days. Pray that God begins to soften their tired, scared and anxious hearts to be able to feel His love for them and to be able to begin to see the brokenness within their hearts the Lord is very present with. May the men at the conference know and feel God's words to them from Isaiah 57:15 -
A Message from the high and towering God,
who lives in Eternity,
whose name is Holy:
"I live in the high and holy places,
but also with the low-spirited, the spirit-crushed,
And what I do is put new spirit in them,
get them up and on their feet again..." (MSG)
Thank you for your prayers and thoughts for this upcoming weekend.
Let us know how you are doing today in your journey. How is your heart and what can we pray for in your healing journey?
Blessings,
David

Open Hearts

Rebecca and I had the awesome privilege to be with a wonderful church family tonight in Sacramento, First Baptist Church. I shared our talk on Holy and Healthy Sexual Intimacy as well as some of our story around sexual brokenness and healing. Everyone in attendance was graciously attentive and open with their questions and encouraging words. Thank you to all who attended. It was a very encouraging weekend in walking alongside those journeying in healing and growth around sexual intimacy and brokenness.

How is your heart today? How's your journey going? Let us know. Take Care.

Blessings,

David

Encouraging Day

Just returned from a one day conference in encouraging men to begin to explore their hearts around sexual sin and brokenness. My body feels tired but my heart is renewed today. It is awesome to see men courageously step out of the shadows to begin to reveal their precious hearts! Tomorrow we speak at a local church on Holy and Healthy Sexual Intimacy. This is one of my favorite talks because we get to share about God's design for true intimacy - something I longed for years but never found in the shadows of my sexual sin. Please pray that this will be an uplifting talk around the goodness of God's gift of sexual intimacy to those who attend the seminar.

Welcome!

ErosWounded is directed by David and Rebecca Wever. For a lack of a better term, we are intimacy pioneers, venturing with people into idle territories in their hearts. We are both sexually broken. It is in this brokenness that God has begun healing our hearts and bond over the last 17 years. We now journey with men, women and teens on the same journey of hope and healing in true intimacy. For the last 8 years we have journeyed with thousands of men and women as they begin to find release from the shackles of sexual wounds and sexual obsession to live in freedom, peace and understanding from their true heart.David is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the director and speaker for the Every Man’s Battle Workshop (http://www.everymansbattle.com/). Rebecca has led and taught the Every Couple’s Desire Workshops with David for the last two years and has helped many to journey into the areas of their heart around sexual trauma and betrayal.Rebecca also has journeyed with the brokenhearted at Willow Creek Community Church as a Program Coordinator in the Marital Restoration and Divorce Recovery Ministries. David is a professor in human sexuality at Western Seminary where he has the privilege to walk alongside future intimacy pioneers in assisting men and women towards true intimacy out of sexual obsession and brokenness. We hope this blog will be a solace for the sexually wounded to begin to find connection and help. We look forward to journeying with you.
